6 Months of Love Vs. Money

Hard to believe it’s been six months since we first launched our blog, Love Vs. Money, and we have been through our fair share of changes and challenges – there’s always a learning lesson here.

Over the last few months alone, we’ve grown in size, we’ve brought on exciting new clients, officially become a B Corporation and launched our Changemaker Marketing Lab, an intensive six month marketing consulting program.

If you’re just tuning in, we don’t want you to miss out on any of the fun. Here’s a rundown of what’s been going on at Prosper, some of the lessons we have learned and more information on how to apply for Changemaker Marketing Lab grant (DEADLINE IS TODAY)!

We became a B Corp!

For those who aren’t familiar, a B Corporation is a new kind of company that is legally required to consider the interests of their stakeholders (employees, suppliers and their community) as well as their shareholders. As a company that prides ourselves on working solely with changemakers who break ground in their respective fields, this was a no-brainer for us.

We learned a TON about our company.

In addition to becoming a B Corp, we spent a lot of time further exploring our identity as a company, too: who we are today, what we want to become and how we strike that careful balance between Love vs. Money. In order to make this goal a reality, we came up six quarterly “rocks” for 2016.

In our quest to meet these “rocks” and to do more of the work we love, we had to get smarter about client work and the future of Prosper Strategies. This meant getting serious about defining our ideal client (changemaking companies), so we spent less time chasing down business we couldn’t win and made more time to keep up with the evolving needs of our clients.

We launched Changemakers to Watch.

We can’t say enough good things about groundbreaking entrepreneurs who positively impact their respective fields. That’s why we launched Changemakers to Watch – a blog series that showcases individuals who are passionate, inspired, authentic and driven. In the last few months, we have profiled Stu Hummel of Epiphany Farms Hospitality Group and Amanda and Brandon Neely of Overflow Coffee Bar – three amazing and extremely unique individuals making great strides and positively impacting their customers and communities.

One of the most important things we’ve learned over the years is that causes – no matter how great – do not sell themselves.
