Prosper Strategies is a boutique Chicago-based marketing and PR agency that works exclusively with nonprofits and social impact companies. We are looking for a skilled Copyeditor and Content Strategist to join our team.

We produce a great deal of content for our clients, from blog posts to white papers to guest columns for outlets like Fast Company and Time. A successful copy editor and content strategist will:

1) help our team craft more effective content strategies for our clients,

2) help our team produce better content in line with those strategies, and

3) polish all client content, serving as a final editor responsible for content quality

This person will split their time between two primary functions:


  • Review and edit all content at each stage of development (content plan, outline, draft, revision, final) to ensure it meets our quality standards and is aligned with client preferences and marketing goals
  • Evaluate content to identify necessary next steps and increase publication acceptance rates
  • Coach junior team members on their writing to help them produce better content
  • Optimize all content for online search and engagement
  • Polish all client content and serve as the final reviewer prior to content publication

Content Strategist

  • Work with our account management and strategy team members to understand client content needs and build content strategies that align with broader marketing strategies
  • Work with our account management team to plan for future content: blog and editorial calendars, white paper concepts etc.
  • Listen in on client interview calls to understand their voice and point of view (which will aid in the editing process) and help our team conduct better interviews
  • Partner with Prosper Strategies’ principals to build better approaches and practices for creating content strategies, establishing client voice and preferences, guiding the team through the writing and editing process, etc.
  • Provide regular feedback to team members in various roles to improve content quality


  • At least four years experience writing and copyediting in an agency or journalistic setting
  • Experience editing for content, scope, flow, style, marketing goal alignment and adherence to quality standards
  • Strong understanding of what makes marketing content effective and how inbound marketing, PR, sales, and content work together
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to manage a high volume of content in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while working across multiple clients and industries
  • Ability to lead editing process for various publications or projects, shifting seamlessly between big picture and copy edits
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to make decisions and delegate to or lead junior team members, including account executives, account coordinators and interns
  • Personal initiative and ownership of his/her work
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn about a variety of industries
  • Interest in social impact and nonprofit clients
  • Basic understanding of SEO writing/on-page SEO
  • Very proficient in AP style or similar style, with strong strategic and analytical skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, marketing or related field or equivalent experience
