Our Favorite Tools for Social Media Engagement

If you’ve been following along with our blog this month, you are knees deep in engagement tactics for your mission-driven organization. We’ve been discussing best practices for engaging your stakeholders through your marketing. One of those is utilizing social media tools for your engagement efforts. These will save you time, facilitate valuable engagement and make the process generally more fun for you and your team.

Here are our favorite social media tools:

Hootsuite:

At Prosper Strategies we use this tool for all of our social interaction, on our clients’ accounts and our own. The Hootsuite dashboard allows you to connect multiple social media accounts across multiple platforms. For example, to manage Prosper’s social media, I have a dashboard set up with their Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn account. Hootsuite allows me to have organized streams for people I follow on Twitter, my scheduled posts on Facebook, a Twitter list of thought leaders or a stream of #chicago. Another great feature is their scheduled content. With Hootsuite you can upload an entire month’s worth (or more) of content that you wish to push out. Once it’s uploaded, you don’t have to worry about remembering to send the ‘Happy New Year’ tweet on January 31. Hootsuite makes engagement with our stakeholders simple and organized.

Hubspot:

Hubspot is another social media tool that we use to manage communities. Their social inbox plugs into your contacts database and then color-codes your customers and leads. Their entire site is extremely intuitive and connected. Hubspot helps you prioritize your social engagement giving you the context you need to stop wasting time with impersonal connections or disconnected conversations. Engaging with the correct people is key, so this feature is something beloved by many Hubspot users. Similar to Hootsuite, Hubspot allows you to schedule content across your platforms. Hubspot is a great social tool, but works best as a platform for all your mission-driven marketing. We suggest if you are going to use Hubspot, that you take full advantage of everything they offer, including their great social engagement tool.

Tweetchat:

If you are looking for the perfect tool to engage in Twitter chats, look no further. Tweetchat is a website that allows you to easily enter into a Twitter chat and get connected. All you need to do is enter the hashtag you’re looking for on their homepage and it redirects you to a ‘chatroom’ where all your interactions can occur. For example, I type in #ideaschat and can easily follow along with the conversation in a place with no distractions. Tweetchat’s timing is speedy too, so you are able to keep up with the conversation in real time.
