If your business has had a few blogs get attention from your fans, but hasn’t built a regular readership, it’s time to try new tactics to keep your audience coming back to your posts. Consider these ideas:
Write a blog series
To connect your posts, start a blog series. You can take this idea in whatever direction seems best for your organization. A few options include:
- If your blog has several writers, decide on an area of expertise for each of your bloggers to focus on, and set each up to write their own weekly post on that topic. Organize your blog’s landing page so that each writer’s recent work is displayed, along with a link to their past work, a headshot and brief bio. Promote each blogger to appropriate audiences.
- Pick a topic for the week and write a series of posts that build on each other. If you have several bloggers, have each one cover an aspect of the subject. End each post with a preview of the next day’s feature.
Create a regular feature
Consider a monthly feature that will interest your audience. Make it something visual and fun, but still linked to your field. For example, a design company could profile an employee’s art outside of work. An industry group could post an interview with a partner organization. A regular feature like this is also a great way to earn more social shares through cross-promotion.
Give your evergreen content a makeover
Make old content fresh by adapting it to a different medium. For example, try:
- Producing a podcast, video or infographic based on old blog posts
- Collecting a series of blog posts on the same theme and expanding them into an ebook
Always link these new pieces to their earlier versions to drive traffic back to your regular content.
