I’m writing this morning from my snow-covered hometown in Wisconsin, where I’m sitting in front of a cozy fireplace checking a few last items off of my to-do list before the Thanksgiving festivities begin. In my family, as in many, we have a tradition: right around the time that we start passing the pumpkin pie (which I’ll be making from scratch this year!), we go around the table and list a few things we’re thankful for. Family, friends, food and shelter usually make the list. However, this year, I’d like to start the tradition early and focus on a few things I’m thankful for in my professional life. This has been quite the interesting year for Prosper, but when I look back on it, one thing comes to mind: gratitude.
I’m grateful for:
1. Our team
Our team is the heart and soul of everything we do, and I’m so proud of what our little Prosper family has become. We are extremely lucky to have such talented, driven, kind and fun people on our team. Katie, Brittany, Margret-Ann, Julia, Lindsay, Curtis, Rachel and Melissa – thank you for everything you do. You are all simply amazing.
2. Partnership
One of the very best things that happened in my professional life this year was deciding to partner with Lindsay Mullen and merging our two firms, Mosher Mullen Strategies and Prosper PR, to become Prosper Strategies. Finding a business partner who shares your vision, compliments your skills and pushes you to be a better entrepreneur is no easy task, but I hit the jackpot. I know that we can accomplish far bigger things together than either of us would have alone, and I’m so excited to see what our first full year as business partners holds in store. Lindsay, thanks for being the ying to my business yang.
3. Our Extraordinary Clients
Our current client roster is filled with some of the most extraordinary companies and nonprofit organizations I could ever imagine working with. Our clients are true innovators who are making a difference not just in their fields, but also in their communities and the world at large. They are also simply some of the most genuine, smart and fun-to-work with people out there. Thank you, clients, for making our jobs a joy.
4. The Opportunity to Use My Skills For Good
Thanks to those fantastic clients I just mentioned, all of us at Prosper have the rare opportunity to put our marketing and communications talents to work for causes we care about and make an impact through our work. I realize that most people do not get nearly as much fulfillment from their careers as I do, and I’m so grateful for the chance to do something meaningful with all the hours I spend at work.
What are you thankful for this year (personally or professionally)?
