If nonprofits learned anything from 2020, it was that the concept of returning to “normal” isn’t realistic. This dynamic, shifting landscape is here to stay.
The nonprofit leaders we spoke to last year know this. There wasn’t a single one we talked to who told us they wished for things to return to “normal.”
What we saw from the economic and social impact of COVID-19 and the racial justice reckoning put a spotlight on the many long-standing problems with philanthropy and the way nonprofits work. Let’s not ignore what stared at us in the face. It’s time to be rid of the old way of existence and reimagine how funders, donors and communities collaborate. We’re on to a bigger, better and bolder future for the industry, for the good of all.
In our webinar, which originally aired on January 20th, we spoke with leaders from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago, One Hope United and AIDS Foundation Chicago about the shifting landscape and how nonprofits and funders can pledge to take action this year. They also discussed:
- How the events of 2020 will shape the nonprofit sector moving forward
- What they are doing to continue to center racial justice and how they are engaging their stakeholders to shape their priorities
- What you can do today to prepare for success in 2021
